November 23, 2018 was the moment that I turned on the button of the webshop and a lot has happened. The thought that I had come up with a solution for so many children and parents who fall between two stools has turned out to be true.
How special that so many parents and experts have embraced this new method and in most cases it works. But the fact remains, babies are not robots, every child reacts slightly differently and needs a slightly different approach. This is exactly why I spend almost all my time speaking to parents, as well as experts who have questions. I listen to the specific situations and give honest and sincere advice. I hope to keep doing this for as long as possible, because if I am behind something, there is not 1 standard answer.
Now more than 7 months later I can share the happy news that the first hospital will start working with the products of Fedde&Kees, somewhere in the last three months of the year the Nunki sheet will also be for sale at all stores and the Babypark webshop in the Netherlands. & As we speak I am also in conversation with 1 of the largest stores in Belgium about the Nunki sheet.
But why only the Nunki sheet I have 2 good reasons for this..
First of all, I would like to keep the Nunki sheet and Bundi sleeping bag combination with myself, precisely because no baby is the same and this is the only way to control the advice I give parents regarding their troubled little ones. The advice listens closely and I get a lot of satisfaction from advising and helping these parents.
Secondly, I am convinced that if you apply the Nunki sheet to the bed of your newly born baby from day 1, the chance of a bad sleeper is many times smaller, I would like to explain this:
When you are pregnant, your baby (provided full term) is in the tight and secure environment of your womb. As soon as it is born, according to the guidelines, you should put your little one in bed on his back to greatly reduce the risk of SIDS. These guidelines are there for a reason and I have set them very high, only all "natural" security has disappeared from the bed (reclining on the stomach and side are natural secure positions).
The only way as a parent to get the security in the cot is by tucked in tightly. This is often successful during the week when maternity care is available (your little one is still nice and quiet), but in the following period it becomes difficult for many parents to achieve this. As soon as your little one becomes active, you will soon have to walk into the room every 5 minutes to tuck the sheet back tightly.
In addition, we live in a time when, compared to the past, babies have to process many times more stimuli during the day. Constant sounds from a TV or telephone, flashing images and going everywhere because we parents no longer want to be glued to the house.
In addition, many mothers are also working these days and sleep has become all the more important because mom also has to be up early and sharp again. It almost seems as if we place too high demands on our babies' sleep rhythms. Unfortunately, in this Instagram time, moms don't make it easy for themselves either. It almost looks like you're a bad mother if your little one doesn't sleep through the night right away.
Until 7 months ago, the only way to create a sense of security in addition to being tucked in tightly was to swaddle. Don't get me wrong, I am absolutely not against swaddling, some children really need this but for many children this is a way too intense method. Nearly 90% of my customers currently order the sheet and sleeping bag combination precisely because they are running out of swaddling. This is therefore a major disadvantage of swaddling.
We usually need to phase out swaddling between the 4th and 6th month when your little one is getting ready to start rolling. Only when your little one has developed the fine motor skills around 8 to 9 months, until that time uncontrolled muscle movements are a fact, this is exactly the reason why sleeping problems arise again when you have to reduce the swaddling.
The moment you start swaddling, it often seems like a miracle cure, your little one sleeps like never before, but unfortunately it is often a kind of postponement of execution. You shift the problem.
Little ones are often only looking for what they crave, security.
This is exactly the reason why only the Nunki sheet from Fedde&Kees goes into the store. My mission is the sheet from day 1 to get the cot to prevent sleeping problems and therefore swaddling, where possible.
Due to the upper fabric, your little one will experience a deep pressure sensation on the sensory stimulus processing, which helps children to relax and gives the security they so much need. Because tucking always happens in the same way, your child always experiences the same bed ritual with tucking, which in turn responds to peace and regularity. With the Nunki sheet you offer your little one the security they need from the very first moment.
Prevention is always better than cure! An ideal tool, itNunki sheet by Fedde & Kees.
